A Postdoc position at the University of Bayreuth is to be filled as soon as possible, resp. until the position is filled.
- Location: University of Bayreuth, Germany
- Secondment: Imperial College London, UK
- Application deadline: until the position is filled

A Postdoc position within the SADCO Initial Training Network "Sensitivity Analysis for Deterministic Controller Design" is to be filled as soon as possible, resp. until the position is filled.
Preferably candidates are searched with an expertise in optimal control who want to step in, resp. to continue their research to the field of optimal control with partial differential equations. Promising research directions could be to build bridges from ODE optimal control to PDE optimal control, for example to transfer known techniques for solving state-constrained or singular optimal control problems from ODE to PDE optimal control. The research should straddle from theory to numerics.
The position is embedded in the group of the Chair of Mathematics in Engineering Sciences (Prof. Hans Josef Pesch) at the Universty of Bayreuth; see http://www.ingenieurmathematik.uni-bayreuth.de/de/index.html. A second group at the University of Bayreuth, also in SADCO, works on control theory and numerical analysis (Prof. Lars Gruene, http://num.math.uni-bayreuth.de/en/index.html).
The position is for 18 months. Within this period there is a 6-month secondment at the Imperial College London.
Benefits:Working within an international group enabling inspiring cooperations through workshops and summer schools through Europe
