Doctoral Days 2013, Palaiseau, 10-13 June 2013

The second SADCO Doctoral Days will be held in Palaiseau, France on 10-13 June 2013, at Ensta ParisTech.

Objective

The aim of the second SADCO Doctoral Days is to give the fellows the opportunity to present their research and last progress to each other, to the senior team members and to external participants. An event aimed at reinforcing the cooperation between the network and the industrial sector is also planned.

Programme

The programme of the doctoral days will start on Monday 10 June in the morning and will close on Thursday 13 in the afternoon. It will be divided in three parts:

 

PRESENTATIONS BY THE FELLOWS, 10-11 JUNE

This meeting is concerned with the research of the fellows. Each student will be given the opportunity to give a talk to present his/her more recent works. There will be time for discussion. The programme of the talks will be available soon.

INDUSTRIAL DAY & POSTER EXHIBITION, 12 JUNE

The Industrial Day & Poster Exhibition is an all-day event devoted to increasing the cooperation with industries, stimulate research partnerships and sharpen the training atmosphere for the students. This is focused on interactions between SADCO and industries through talks and poster sessions. 

COMPLEMENTARY SKILLS, 13 JUNE

The programme will be completed with a training activity on grant writing. This training is only for SADCO fellows.

  Registration

There is no admission fee for this event. Nevertheless, registration is mandatory.

All participants are kindly asked to confirm their participation by filling out the REGISTRATION FORM by 15 May 2013.

 

Accommodation and meals

We propose a list of recommended hotels with easy access to Ensta, in Paris (close to Porte d'Orléans from where the shuttle bus will leave and in the Latin Quarter) and near Ensta.
Participants are requested to book and pay their room directly.
Hotel availability in Paris is very limited at this time of year. We strongly recommend that you make your reservation (directly to the hotel or through a website such as Booking.com) as soon as possible. 

Lunches and coffee breaks will be provided.

 

Getting there

 The Doctoral Days 2013 will be held at the new ENSTA ParisTech Campus located on the Saclay plateau:

Only 15 km from Paris, the new campus provides, among other things, outstanding research and teaching facilities, on-site catering and a large range of sporting facilities.  

 

  • A SHUTTLE BUS will be organized on June 10, 11 and 12 from Paris Porte d'Orléans to Ensta in the morning and from Ensta to Paris Porte d'Orléans in the afternoon.
    • In the morning, the shuttle will leave from Porte d'Orléans at 8.30 sharp. The bus will be parked near the Statue of General Leclerc (see the map below). It will bear the name of the bus company "Autocars Lartigue" and will have a SADCO sign. Many buses are usually parked in the same area. Please make sure that you allow enough time to find the pick-up location and identify the right bus.
    • In the evening, the shuttle will leave Ensta at the end of the day's activities.

 

 

  • If you wish to access Ensta ParisTech by public transportation:

- From Paris:

Buy a RER ticket to Massy-Palaiseau (Zone 4) and board RER B towards Massy, St Rémy-les-Chevreuses or Orsay (do NOT take RER B towards Robinson). Get off at Massy-Palaiseau. Walk towards the head of the train. Take the stairs located at the head of the train, turn left at the top of the stairs, then walk down the stairs to your right.
At the bottom of the stairs, keep walking and go past the big yellow cube until you reach the bus stops for Buses 91.10 and 91.06. You will need a regular metro ticket to pay for the bus (or change).
Buses n° 91.06 B, 91.06 C, 91.10 go to Ensta ("Polytechnique-Joncherettes" stop). Do NOT board buses 91.06 A or 91.06 D.

- From Orly airport
Take the Orly-Val metro to "Antony" station then change for RER B (towards Massy, Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse or Orsay), get off at "Massy-Palaiseau", and take the bus n° 91.06 B, 91.06 C or 91.10 to "Polytechnique-Joncherettes". You will need a RER ticket to Massy Palaiseau and a metro ticket (or change) for the bus.

- From Charles de Gaulle airport
Take RER B (towards Massy, Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse or Orsay), get off at "Massy-Palaiseau", and take the bus n° 91.06 B, 91.06 C or 91.10 to "Polytechnique-Joncherettes".  You will need a RER ticket to Massy Palaiseau and a metro ticket (or change) for the bus.
